McKenzie & Company is a firm of employee benefits professionals with expertise in employee benefits law, finance, accounting and human resource management. We offer fee-based independent advisory services to our clients and assist them to purchase, install and maintain high quality employee benefits programs. As we are independent of insurers, we are able to assist our clients to purchase the most suitable products for their employees.

Since 1985, McKenzie & Company has provided high quality employee benefits advisory and third part administrative services to private and public employers throughout New England. We endeavor to achieve the highest level oSf client satisfaction in all aspects of our operations.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide our client with high quality advisory services with regard to:

  • Performing risk analyses

  • Analyzing the experience of existing plan

We work closely with our clients’ accountants, legal counsel, human resource managers and other advisors to ensure that our clients’ employee benefits programs are in harmony with their overall business objectives. Advisory Services

Our principal objective in serving our clients is to enhance the cost-effectiveness of their benefits purchases and reduce their expenditure on administering their employee benefits programs. In pursuing this objective, we routinely perform the following operations: 

  • Endeavor to gain a thorough understanding of our clients’ unique human resource needs;

  • Perform demographic studies;

  • Design programs that are consistent with our clients’ financial and other business objectives;

  • Pre-screen and qualify insurers that are invited to submit proposals to insure or administer our client’s programs;

  • Analyze the historic utilization patterns of existing employee benefits programs to ensure that our clients are not over-spending;

  • Provide financial analysis and projections on the proposed programs based on historical utilization patterns; 

  • Perform review and analyses of managed care programs;

  • Evaluate existing and proposed networks;

  • Develop bid specifications;

  • Perform bid analyses; 

  • Negotiate initial and renewal rates;

  • Design and disseminate benefits information to employees;

  • Design and deliver education programs for managers and other employees; and 

  • Provide ongoing management reports to clients during the life of the programs.

Cost Control Services

Our advisory services are designed to assist our client to devise strategies to control the costs of delivering high quality benefits to their employees. We achieve this goal by:

  • Analyzing different pricing options based on the clients’ historic utilization experience including pooled, prospectively, experience rated, refund experience rated, health spending accounts, self- insured or administrative services;

  • Examining flexible benefits alternatives;

  • Examining applicable cost containment alternatives suitable for each component of the benefits program;

  • Developing education programs for employees on the clients’ overall cost control strategies and the benefits to be attained there from; and

  • Providing ongoing reports on the performance of each component of employee benefits program.

Among the services that we offer our clients is the opportunity to establish and maintain a web page that capsulates their employee benefits program with up-to-date information about their employees’ utilization of each program and detailed descriptions of each product in the clients’ employee benefits program. Our web page maintenance service enables our clients to bring a new level of efficiency to the management and dissemination of human resources information to their employees by reducing the amount of human effort that is customarily deployed to deep their employees informed about their employee benefits program. By giving employees access to information about their benefits programs over the Internet, our clients are able to offer their employees quality and reliable information with minimum ongoing human interaction.
